The Monuments Module records information about areas of the landscape and built environment that are regarded as significant - a concept named in MIDAS Heritage as "Monuments". Monument records can represent an incredibly wide range of phenomena, including archaeological sites surviving as earthworks, below-ground features visible as crop marks or known through excavations, surface scatters of artefacts, or they may be records of buildings or built structures. The find spots of individual artefacts or hoards and the sites of vessels lost at sea may also be recorded.

The physical remains described by a monument record may or may not be known to exist in situ; the module is equally used to record information about sites that have been destroyed or removed by human or natural processes.

The HBSMR System Administrator can add new record types and configure the information that is displayed.
